MAAO Course 200 - Principles of Assessing Procedures
MAAO Course 200, Principles of Assessing Procedures, is an extensive course dealing with the Assessors administrative responsibilities, valuation development, Appellate Tax Board procedures, the tax rate process, and statutory exemptions. This is an in-depth explanation of the Assessors everyday duties. It is a course necessary to the new Assessor and useful to the experienced Assessor as a review. This course is approved in Massachusetts for 15 hours of residential/non-residential continuing education credit. Successful completion of an exam on September 28th is required to obtain credit.

Understanding Exterior Construction Components
This seminar has been approved by MA, NH and RI for 3.5 hours of continuing residential credit. VT and CT approved this course for 3.0 hours of continuing education credit.
Exterior construction components such as grading, retaining walls, porches, etc. are all important details of an improved residential property. Clients and other users of appraisal services expect appraisers to make reliable value-related decisions regarding the quality of outdoor construction materials, workmanship, structural integrity and condition of these visible improvements. Appraisers are also expected to make competent decisions and statements pertaining to deferred maintenance problems which could directly impact structural soundness and the health and safety of dwelling occupants. This 15-hour course will be presented by practicing, independent fee appraisers well-versed in the professional and ethical standards of the appraisal community. Residential Site Valuation and Cost Approach

MBREA’s Exam Prep Workshop is a great way to prepare for your residential appraisal license or residential certification national exam. The seven-hour workshop’s format places students in a testing environment followed by an instructor led discussion on areas of weakness.
MBREA’s new exam prep class does not guarantee an appraiser will pass the residential exam – no course can do that. We are confident, however, that prospective test takers will be better prepared to sit for the exam and enjoy a greater likelihood of success. Appraising Easements
