Public Policy

The MBREA actively engages in public policy matters that affect the appraisal community. Under the auspices of the Government Affairs Committee, the association drafts, files and advocates for legislation. MBREA initiatives include licensing of appraisal management companies and limiting the look-back period for complaints about older appraisals. Representatives from the MBREA regularly attend state licensing board meetings and provide testimony about regulatory changes.

We are engaged on a federal level as well. The MBREA reviews new regulations and provides testimony concerning its impact on the appraisal profession.

In 2013, the MBREA established the Appraisers Political Action Committee to support Massachusetts candidates for public office. A PAC committee determines who should receive support based on the candidate’s position on appraisal related issues. Visit the PAC’s website at appraiserspac.org.
