Scheduling: The 2023 New England Appraisers Expo General and Commercial Sessions will take place on October 16, 2023 from 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and October 17, 2023 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Attendance: We are required to track each participants attendance which will be done through poll questions which will launch periodically throughout both days of the programs. We will not be able to award CE credit to participants who fail to answer all the poll questions.

Economic Update  Christopher L. Foote, Ph.D Senior Research Economist and Policy Advisor, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston Dr. Foote's presentation will encompass an update on regional and national influences affecting real estate and the economy.
Washington Update Bill Garber Director of Government and External Relations, Appraisal Institute Mr. Garber will draw upon his insider knowledge of affairs affecting the appraisal profession in Washington, D.C. and discuss new initiatives to bring a new generation of appraisers into the profession.
Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT and Appraisal:  Practical Applications Mark Linné, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS Mr. Linne's presentation provides both residential land commercial appraisers with a comprehensive introduction to the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in the appraisal industry.

Economic Update & ODCE Fund Valuations Rebecca Rockey Deputy Chief Economist, Global Head of Forecasting, Cushman & Wakefield Paula Thoreen Head of Institutional Valuations at Cushman & Wakefield This panel will kick of the commercial real estate component with a focus on macro-economic trends that are impacting the commercial real estate sector. Topics such as interest rates, debt liquidity and other key market fundamentals will be addressed, nationally and within New England. Paula Thoreen will discuss details around the NCREIF (National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries) Open End Diversified Core Equity Index that reports on institutional grade valuations with a focus on office, industrial and retail. Paula will also address sector specific market outlooks from the perspective of institutional investors and how this is being addressed in valuations.

Multifamily Trends, US and New England Sam Tenenbaum Head of Multifamily Insights, Cushman & Wakefield Overview: The multifamily sector has cooled in recent months after record setting growth. This session will address property market fundamentals that impact affordability, supply and demand, occupancy and rent growth. These trends and fundamentals provide critical insights for appraisers and other commercial real estate analysts to properly assess the market when determining market valuations.

Going Concern Valuations Jonathan Jaeger Senior Managing Director, LW Hospitality Advisors James Tellatin Senior Managing Director and Seniors Housing Practice Lead at Integra Realty Resources Overview: The panel will discuss valuation methodology and trends for two of the more popular property types that require a going concern valuation, hotels, and hospitality.  Both sectors have experienced extreme volatility in recent years but were impacted differently by the recent pandemic. The panelists will discuss sector specific trends, market outlook, and how market valuations should be approached in today’s environment.
