SWOT Analysis for Real Estate Appraisers
Strengthen your property analysis with a structured approach to identifying what matters—and explaining why. This seminar introduces SWOT analysis—Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats—as a practical tool for organizing property characteristics, market influences, competitive position, and risk factors.
Learn to distinguish strengths and weaknesses within a property or operation from opportunities and threats arising from external market conditions. You will explore how to develop an evidence-supported SWOT matrix and connect your findings to market analysis, highest and best use, and the three approaches to value.
The seminar also addresses common pitfalls, including unsupported conclusions, advocacy, duplication, and confirmation bias. You will consider how to use SWOT consistently with applicable USPAP obligations, determine whether findings belong in the appraisal report, the workfile, or both, and translate observations into appraisal-relevant conclusions.
SWOT complements appraisal methodology by providing a clear framework for organizing and communicating analysis.
